Hello Freelancer 👋

Hope you’re doing well? This is the first edition of 2026, so Happy New Year! Hope you had a great festive break and are feeling refreshed.

In today’s edition: Vacancies opening up at Daily Mirror, Business Insider, Questrade more.

Good luck with the applications this week!

  • If you’re hiring and want to submit an opportunity for us to feature in this newsletter. Simply fill out this Google Form (at no cost).

  • Please note that the opportunities that we feature, the rates do of course vary depending on the individual publication/company. It’s not always possible for us to find the rates as this information isn’t always shared with us. But we do ensure that the work is paid and not voluntary.

  • The number of opportunities will vary every week, it simply depends on the market and the amount of vacancies out there. Also worth noting, inclusion is not equal to an endorsement.

This newsletter is reliant on word of mouth to grow, so if you know anyone who’s a freelance writer/journalist/copywriter/content creator, please tell them about us. Even a social media post would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Landed a job posted in this newsletter? Let us know and we’ll celebrate with you!

Opportunities ✍

Daily Mirror: Writers/Journalists (via Matt Atherton): “It's a new year, and the Mirror's news team is on the hunt for some freelancers to help with shifts. We're looking for anyone that fancies themselves as the next award-winning journalist who loves writing about anything from crime, health, and weather, to even a little bit of royal and - my personal favourite - weird news. You don't have to be a seasoned pro with a CV full of national and international exclusives! It's a jungle out there, especially for the newbies in our industry, so please do reach out whatever your experience! Get in touch at matt.atherton@reachplc.com if you're keen!”

Pitch / Apply

Business Insider: Writers: “We’re looking for Costco, Trader Joe’s, and/or Aldi shoppers to write posts like this for our grocery diaries. You MUST be able to visit the store and snap photos of each item you’re speaking about during your next trip! Sometimes it’s easier to snap photos first and write second. We’d love to hear about why you like each product and what you use it for/why it’s a great value. We also love to differentiate our diaries. If you have a larger grocery budget, work as a dietitian or personal trainer, are a chef/culinary expert, spend over $500 every trip, or work at one of these stores — it’s also worth noting! Rates for stories like these begin at $175 per piece”.

Pitch / Apply

Questrade: Writer (via Kat Angus): “I’m the Deputy Editor for the new media arm of Questrade, and my inbox is officially open for pitches. Everyone is welcome to pitch, but I especially welcome fresh voices, perspectives, and ideas that are perhaps considered unusual for finance content”.

Pitch / Apply

Copywriter (via Daniel Levy): “Our client is working on a pitch for a household cleaning brand and looking for a copywriter to team up with an Art Director to help bring their conceptual routes to life. The role is focused on shaping the key messaging for each idea, grounded in the brand proposition and territory, and writing high-level copy to show how the ideas could stretch across a few channels such as social, shopper, digital display and print.” Day rate: £350.
